Parents,
I will no longer be using this blog to post updates about my class. Instead, I will be using the app Seesaw. This allows me to post things and also allows your children to post things so that you can see what we're doing in class. I encourage you to sign up if you have a smart phone, I often post parent reminders and photos of the class in the app. (The app is set up like Instagram; you can like and comment on the photos we post.)
If you would like to sign up for this please let me know and I can send a paper home!

Spelling
Parents,
We do Spelling every week. On Monday, we pick new words and your child will come home with a word list. This list needs to be practiced nightly. On Wednesday, we have a quiz. I don't put the quiz in the gradebook because it is more of a practice for the test. You will see points on the quiz, but that is just to show the words your child spelled incorrectly and needs to work on before the test. Friday is when we have our test. This test does get graded and does go into my gradebook, so I encourage you to have your child practice their words every Thursday night.

Seesaw
Parents,
If you would like to be able to see photos or videos of what we do in the classroom, please contact me so that I can send home a paper for you to sign up for Seesaw. This is an app we will be using all year to upload work your child has completed. It looks like Instagram and you can like or comment on your child's work. Math by Myself
Every day during math, the students have a time called "Math by Myself." This is when they work independently on a math journal page and then get to play math games in their Math by Myself binders. Here are some photos from yesterday, enjoy!

Welcome to First Grade!

Welcome to my blog! I am looking forward to working with you and your students this year. Make sure to come visit me on Back to School Night, Tuesday, August 4, from 5:30-7:00. My room number is 202. Students can bring their backpacks and school supplies on this night and leave them in the classroom for the first day.
